Growing Prosperity
In the face of climate change, empowering farmers with knowledge is the key to food security. The DEGESI project connects the power of digital literacy to the realities of smallholder farming. We are helping farmers in Kenya’s most vulnerable regions increase their yields, build climate resilience, and secure better incomes through accessible digital tools.
From Digital Skills to Bumper Harvests
We bridged the gap between the digital and physical worlds for farmers.
The Business of Farming: Our ‘Doing Business’ digital module equipped farmers with the skills to use Digital Services in Agriculture (DSA) platforms.
A Proven Track Record: This approach builds on a strong precedent, where previous digital training helped farmers increase their average monthly income from 80 to 134.
Farming Smarter in a Changing Climate
We integrated climate resilience directly into our training.
Smart Weather, Smarter Planting: Digital skills give farmers access to vital weather advisories and climate-smart techniques, a lifeline in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands.
Farmers as Environmental Stewards: The most successful module in our entire citizen curriculum was E-Waste Management, showing farmers are eager to lead in sustainable practices.
Tangible Results for Livelihoods
The ultimate test is in improved lives.
Accessing New Markets: Through their new skills, farmers are now engaging with digital marketplaces and using mobile money, diversifying their income streams.
More Food, Better Nutrition: With better information on crop planning and market prices, farmers are enhancing both their productivity and their families’ nutrition.
