Ten Evidence-Based Publications Launched to Guide Kenya’s Inclusive Digital Growth
The DEGESI project has cemented its role as a thought leader in digital inclusion with the launch of ten comprehensive knowledge products. This suite of resources, which includes policy briefs, journal articles, white papers, and conference proceedings, provides a critical evidence base to guide policymakers and practitioners across Kenya.
The publications distill key insights from the project’s implementation. Key findings validate the effectiveness of the Community Digital Champion model for last-mile delivery, highlight the critical link between digital literacy and agricultural resilience, and provide a framework for gender-responsive digital skilling.
“Our goal has always been to not only implement a project but to contribute to the national conversation on digital inclusion,” said a research lead for DEGESI. “These knowledge products are designed to offer actionable insights. For instance, our policy briefs directly inform how digital skilling programs can be designed to be more inclusive for women, persons with disabilities, and older adults.”
The research has already begun to influence strategy, with findings being shared with the ICT Authority to support the national Digital Master Plan and the ambitious goal of skilling 20 million citizens. The documents are available for download on the DEGESI project website, serving as a resource for government agencies, development partners, and academic institutions.

“Thank you for making these resources available to the public. The research on digital inclusion for pastoralist communities is particularly relevant for us in Northern Kenya. We hope to see DEGESI expand to Mandera soon.”

“The policy brief on gender-responsive digital skilling should be mandatory reading for all county ICT officers. These evidence-based approaches are what we need to ensure no one is left behind.”

“As an academic researcher in development studies, I find these knowledge products extremely valuable. The white paper on the CDC model provides excellent insights for scaling digital inclusion programs nationally.”
